The Riyadh International Airshow is a biennial aerospace and defence exhibition held at King Salman Air Base, south of central Riyadh. It is one of the major aviation events in the Gulf region and draws exhibitors from the global defence, commercial aviation, and aerospace industries. The 2026 edition runs from 9 to 13 November.
The show combines a trade exhibition with a public flying display. The first three or four days are primarily trade-focused, with access restricted to industry professionals, government delegations, and registered trade visitors. Public days, where general admission tickets are sold, typically fall on the final two days of the event. Public day schedules and ticket availability are announced on the official airshow website.
Flying Displays
The aerial programme is a core part of the show for public visitors. Displays typically include military fast jets, aerobatic performances, vintage aircraft demonstrations, and passes by commercial airliners. Saudi Air Force aircraft are usually among the participants, and international air forces are often invited to perform. The displays run in the afternoon, lasting several hours, with the flight line visible from the main public grandstand area.
The scale of aircraft on static display varies by edition. Previous shows have included fighter jets, transport aircraft, helicopters, drones, and unmanned aerial vehicles from both Saudi and international manufacturers.
Trade Exhibition
The indoor exhibition halls cover commercial aviation, defence systems, satellite technology, and aerospace engineering. Major manufacturers use the event to announce contracts and showcase new equipment to Gulf region buyers. Saudi Arabia’s growing aerospace and defence sector means the show has expanded in scope in recent editions, with notable participation from Saudi companies including SAMI (Saudi Arabian Military Industries).
Trade access requires registration through the official airshow portal; credentials are reviewed and issued in advance of the event. For aviation industry professionals, the show is a significant opportunity to meet regional decision-makers and procurement officials.
Practical Information for Public Visitors
King Salman Air Base is located approximately 35 km south of central Riyadh. Transport options include chartered shuttle buses from designated city pickup points and private car. Taxi and ride-hailing services operate but queues at exit can be long after flying display sessions. Arrive early — public days draw large crowds and gates open a set time before the display schedule.
Bring sunscreen and a hat; November temperatures in Riyadh are typically pleasant (18 to 28°C during the day) but the airfield environment offers little shade. Ear protection is useful during jet display passes. Photography is permitted in public areas; restrictions apply near certain military equipment — follow signage and event staff instructions.
Tickets for public days are sold online through the official airshow website. Prices and session details for 2026 will be published ahead of the event.
