Hotels in Saudi Arabia: Where to Stay in Every City
Saudi Arabia has some of the world's most ambitious new luxury hotels — the Ritz-Carlton Riyadh, Park Hyatt Jeddah, and Banyan Tree AlUla. The country's Vision 2030 programme has accelerated hotel construction across every major city, and mid-range options are plentiful in Riyadh and Jeddah.
For pilgrims, Mecca and Medina have a unique accommodation market with thousands of hotels at all price points within walking distance of the holy sites. In AlUla, the desert lodge category has emerged as some of the most distinctive places to stay in the Middle East — boutique, heritage-focused, and immersed in the ancient landscape.

Types of Accommodation
Luxury Tower Hotels
Riyadh and Jeddah have some of the most ambitious luxury hotels in the Middle East. The Ritz-Carlton Riyadh occupies a converted palace. The Rosewood Jeddah, Park Hyatt Jeddah, and Four Seasons Jeddah at the Corniche are the benchmark in the west. Kingdom Centre Tower area in Riyadh concentrates several five-star properties within walking distance of major shopping.
Desert Lodges
AlUla and Tabuk have driven a new category of heritage tourism accommodation. Banyan Tree AlUla, Shaden Resort, and Habitas AlUla offer glamping and eco-lodge style stays within the ancient landscape. These are the most distinctive accommodation options in the Kingdom — typically boutique scale, high-end, and booked out in peak winter season (October–March).
Pilgrim Hotels
Mecca and Medina have a unique accommodation market — tens of thousands of hotel rooms concentrated near the two holy mosques. The Abraj Al-Bait towers (Makkah Royal Clock Tower) in Mecca and the Anwar Al Madinah Mövenpick in Medina are the benchmark properties. Proximity to Al-Masjid al-Haram and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi is the primary decision factor. Note: both cities are accessible to Muslims only.
Mountain Retreats
Abha and the Asir region offer cooler-climate accommodation in the mountains of southwestern Saudi Arabia. Traditional-style hotels and chalets overlook dramatic valleys and terraced hillsides. Abha is a domestic summer escape from the desert heat — accommodation fills up in July and August when the rest of the country bakes.
