Where to Stay in Jeddah: Beachfront, Historic District and Business Hotels

Jeddah’s accommodation choices divide clearly by location: the northern Corniche for upscale and business hotels, Al-Balad and the central area for heritage and mid-range options, and the city centre for budget accommodation. The decision depends primarily on whether you prioritise beach access, historic district proximity, or cost.

Al-Balad: Heritage Stays in the Old City

A handful of boutique hotels have opened in restored Hijazi houses within Al-Balad. These are genuinely atmospheric — coral-stone buildings with carved wooden Rawasheen balconies, small courtyards, and a sense of staying in the city’s history rather than adjacent to it.

Beit Al Bahr is the most atmospheric choice: a coral-stone guesthouse with a rooftop terrace overlooking the old city streets. Books out on weekends — reserve at least two weeks ahead. Rates from approximately SAR 320 per night as of 2026.

Al Balad Historic House Hotel offers similar character with more modern bathrooms. Rates from approximately SAR 290 per night. Both properties are in the pedestrianised core; Uber and taxis access the nearest street, but the narrow lanes themselves are foot-traffic only.

Jeddah Marriott Hotel (the Al-Balad property, not the Corniche one) offers a more conventional mid-range option near the historic district at approximately SAR 350 per night.

Parking and access note: Parking is limited in Al-Balad and driving through the narrow streets is not recommended for newcomers. The neighbourhood quietens significantly after 10 pm. Uber is the most practical option.

Central and Corniche Hotels

The central Corniche section balances access to the historic district (Al-Balad, 5–10 minutes by car) with waterfront views.

Hilton Jeddah sits directly on the Corniche with a large pool and reliable standards. Rates from approximately SAR 480 per night, with weekday rates (Sunday–Tuesday) often meaningfully lower than the weekend premium. InterContinental Jeddah is a well-maintained property with strong upper-floor Gulf views; from approximately SAR 450 per night.

North Jeddah: Beach and Luxury Hotels

The northern Corniche (Al-Hamra, Al-Shati, Obhur) is where Jeddah’s most upscale hotels are concentrated — waterfront properties with Red Sea views and beach access.

Park Hyatt Jeddah at the Marina: Consistently the top-rated hotel in Jeddah. Marina location, seafront dining terrace, multiple restaurants. Rates from approximately SAR 950 per night. Walking distance to the King Fahd Fountain along the Corniche.

Rosewood Jeddah: One of the tallest towers in the district with a rooftop pool and Red Sea views. From approximately SAR 1,100 per night.

Four Seasons Jeddah at The Corniche: Excellent for couples and families. Direct beach access is a significant advantage. Mandarin Oriental Jeddah and Waldorf Astoria Jeddah Al Habtoor City complete the ultra-luxury tier.

Al Hamra Palace Beach Hotel: A sprawling seafront resort with a private beach and water sports. Rates from approximately SAR 550 per night.

Radisson Blu Hotel, Jeddah Corniche is positioned on the beach strip for family stays. From approximately SAR 480 per night.

Public beaches note: Public beaches in Jeddah are family-designated. For unrestricted beach access, book a hotel with a private beach or purchase a resort day pass.

Budget and Mid-Range Options

ibis Jeddah City Center delivers clean, efficient accommodation at approximately SAR 210 per night — a 10-minute drive from the waterfront.

Near King Abdulaziz International Airport

For early flights or late arrivals, the airport area has transit-friendly options:

Centro Sharaf Jeddah offers modern rooms at approximately SAR 240 per night. Tulip Inn Rose Park Hotel Jeddah is slightly more budget-oriented at approximately SAR 200 per night. Both are practical for a short overnight before or after a flight.

Practical Notes

Jeddah has good domestic flight connections — King Abdulaziz International Airport is one of Saudi Arabia’s busiest. Book accommodation early for the Jeddah Season summer period (June–August) when the city receives significant domestic tourism. During Hajj and Umrah peak periods, rates for central hotels can double or triple and availability becomes extremely limited — book well in advance if travelling at these times. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best area to stay in Jeddah?
The northern Corniche area is best for beach access and upscale hotels. Al-Balad (the historic district) has a small number of boutique heritage hotels — these are the most distinctive option. The central Corniche area balances access to both the historic district and the modern city. North Jeddah (Al-Hamra, Al-Shati) has the newest and most upscale hotels.
What is the best luxury hotel in Jeddah?
The Park Hyatt Jeddah at the Marina is consistently considered the best hotel in the city — a waterfront property with Red Sea views. The Rosewood Jeddah, Four Seasons Jeddah, and Mandarin Oriental Jeddah are newer additions. The Waldorf Astoria Jeddah Al Habtoor City is another option.
Are there boutique hotels in Al-Balad?
Yes, a small number — restored old merchant houses (Hijazi houses) in Al-Balad have been converted into boutique hotels. These are limited in number and book out quickly. The experience of staying inside a traditional coral-stone house with Rawasheen balconies is unique. Search specifically for Al-Balad boutique accommodation on booking platforms.
Is it safe to stay near Al-Balad?
Al-Balad is safe for tourists. The historic district has been significantly upgraded and is active with visitors in the evenings. Normal city safety practices apply. The area immediately around Al-Balad (the older commercial districts) is not the most polished but is not unsafe.
